Why Tanya and Tony Fundraise for PCR

... and why they are so good at it!

We love hearing more from all of our fundraisers who take part in challenges for us, especially about why they chose us in the first place. Tanya and Tony ran the Richmond Running Festival for us in 2016 and seriously impressed everyone at PCR. Their original target was £200 each, but Tanya and Tony surpassed this target, raising an amazing £1,700 for Prostate Cancer Research. They thought up exciting and interesting ways to raise money, and were dedicated to their training and progress from Day 1. Here, they tell us their story.

“In July 2016, our good friend Richard generously donated all his birthday gifts to prostate cancer charities. Perhaps foolishly, we thought we’d give our gift by taking up two spaces to run and raise funds on behalf of Prostate Cancer Research in the Kew Gardens 10k on 18th September.

Our family has been touched by prostate cancer, as we know many others has too, and so were thrilled to have the chance to run and raise money for a cause close to our hearts. The small team at PCR were so friendly and supportive of our fundraising every step of the way.

We ran various wellbeing days and hosted a garden party, for which they supplied us with plenty of fundraising materials and goodies to make sure details of PCR were center stage at every event. We raised around £1,700 in total which included our events and the sponsorship from kind donors.

We would definitely take up places for this charity again, in future running events. We may only be running novices, but knowing that we are helping in our own small way, it makes all the training worthwhile.”

Thank you Tanya and Tony for running for PCR. We’re so grateful for all your hard work and hope to see you running with us again!
